About Alex

Currently Alex is Chairman & CEO of Wallaware Inc., a provider of intelligent wireless proxy software and technology to cellular phone operators globally. In addition, he is the founder of Spydre LLC, a venture intelligence and incubation specialty firm.

As part of his role at Spydre, Alex has served key roles at several Internet companies including: VP Business Development at Delphi Forums and Chairman of Wallaware Inc. Alex and his team established Delphi's strategic partnerships from Amazon.com to Xoom.com and created relationships that have grown Delphi's reach from 10,000 members to a network of over 25 million in 18 months. This placed the company as the 15th stickiest ASP on the web and a MediaMetrix 100 company.

Involved with startups in many different roles over the past ten years, Alex established complex sales and marketing channels for digital special F/X systems, consumer packaged goods, IT consulting, and software tools; led the development of overseas markets in Europe and Japan, and forged numerous joint marketing and development agreements with leading Internet portals and Fortune 500 companies. Alex has raised more than $50 million dollars in strategic capital from companies like Compaq Computer Corp, IBM, HP, Information Resources, Inc, and Samsung for the various companies he has started. Moreover, he has set three of his companies up for successful IPOs, and has established the IPO launch team in two more. His career has taken him from the Central Intelligence Agency, where he held Top Secret and other special clearances, to Cambridge Technology Enterprises (CTE), where he helped create Cambridge Samsung Partners, CTE's multi-million dollar venture capital group. He is also one of the inventors of the Compaq/Intel/ICE Internet acceleration technology, patents pending.

Alex completed his college level computer science course at the age of 13, holds a degree in Political Economy from Williams College (MA), where he completed his pre-med requirements, and is an avid amateur chef.

Insider Travel tips from Alex Shah

Alex's Tips for San Francisco, California

  • I love a place called Cafe Macaroni, its small (12 seats) and you should always ask for Mario (tell him the Indians who know what happened to Maurizio and drink all of his Amarone, sent you). Mario Ascione, owner of Cafe Macaroni, (415) 217-8400
  • Stay in the city and walk. Its great to see north beach and if you are on business the Mark Hopkins has a complimentary car service to drop you to places in the morning. Room 1714 is amazing and a secret for the most part it has two balconies and for a bit more than the standard rate it give you a 180 degree of SF. You can see both bridges.

Alex's Tips for Cannes, France

Alex's Tips for Dublin, Ireland

  • I like place called roly's bistro, but the thing to do is get fish and chips at a place called Burdocks at Christ Church, and get a pint at Mulligans it's the old haunt of press folks and it is definitely the best Guinness around (my wife's dad was the hops guy at Guinness for 41 years)
  • Talk to people, and listen to stories. The city is full of them. Wander up and down Grafton Street and soak in the buzz. Christmas time is one big party from the 16th of Dec to the 5th of Jan.
